Design of isotropic porous plates for use in hierarchical plate-lattices

This work deals with the elastic and plastic properties of two-dimensional periodic metamaterials. Design maps are developed to ensure their isotropic response while attaining theoretical stiffness limits. Numerical simulations two different topologies - triangular round hole staggered patterns performed analyze large deformation for relative densities ranging from 0.1 0.9. The investigations show that strength perforated plates is profoundly dependent on unit cells’ direction concerning axial loading; 0 30 degrees have lowest highest yield over entire range volume fractions. In contrast, exhibit an almost uniform in all directions. circular significantly lower at low- intermediate-density ranges; whereas they outperform ones higher than 0.6. Additionally, validation experiments specimens 0.3 density been extracted DP980 steel sheets using micro waterjet cutting, showing good agreement terms force-displacement surface strain fields.
